Pedal For Peace Unity Ride. May 24, 2025 10am - 1pm Summit Lake

Our Inaugural

Unity Ride: Together We Heal

This spring break, Bike Rides vs. Gun Violence invites you to join us for our inaugural Unity Ride—a day of healing, hope, and togetherness for the Akron community. In a city touched by the deep scars of gun violence, we believe that every pedal stroke can be a step toward mending our hearts and rebuilding our bonds.

A Ride for Every Story

Our Unity Ride is more than a bicycle event—it’s a celebration of resilience and unity. We ride for the 3-year-old who lost a father to gun violence, for the grandmother who lost her husband during a simple trip to the market, and for the sister who witnessed the trauma of her brother’s mental health crisis turned violent. We honor every life affected by gun violence, recognizing that behind every statistic is a story of loss, hope, and the desire for change.

Who’s Invited?

We welcome:

  • Community Members: Families, friends, and neighbors who stand together in the face of tragedy.

  • First Responders: Our brave police, firefighters, and emergency teams who risk their lives to protect ours.

  • City Officials: Leaders dedicated to creating safer neighborhoods and supporting community healing.

  • Every Advocate for Change: Whether you’ve been touched directly by gun violence or are passionate about forging a better future for Akron, your presence is invaluable.

Why We Ride

The Unity Ride is our call to action—a day dedicated to:

  • Healing: By riding together, we create a living memorial to those we’ve lost and a moving tribute to our collective strength.

  • Community: We believe that unity can break the cycle of violence. Together, we forge connections that heal wounds and inspire hope.

  • Change: Every mile we ride is a step toward safer streets, better support for mental health, and a future where every member of our community can thrive.

How You Can Help

Our mission is powered by the generosity of donors like you. We welcome donations in all forms:

  • Monetary Contributions: Every dollar helps fund mental health services, support programs, and community outreach initiatives.

  • In-Kind Donations: Bikes, safety gear, repair tools, refreshments, and more are essential to making this event a success.

  • Volunteer Support: Your time and skills are as valuable as any financial contribution. Join us on the day of the ride or support us behind the scenes.

Join Us This Spring Break

Mark your calendars and prepare to ride with purpose. Let’s transform pain into progress, grief into unity, and the wounds of gun violence into a collective commitment to change. Together, we can create a safer, stronger, and more compassionate Akron.
